Field Trip

Last Friday, Sophie and I went with Cassi (and the entire 2nd grade) on a field trip to Homestead Hollow.  The kids had fun and learned a thing or two about living old school...real old school.

And a pig statue outside of a smokehouse?...Sophie rode him like a horse :)

And then there was this reverse bungee jump thing...so not pioneer-ish, but oh so fun!  Sophie kept saying, "I'm a butterfly!"

Then we ended the day with a sweet treat of a Coke float made with homemade ice cream...

Halloween Costumes '09

This year for Halloween, the girls went as Alice in Wonderland and Jessie (from Toy Story).

I thought they looked incredibly cute!  :)

Not so Spooky Halloween Meal

Along with our pumpkin carving tradition, we usually have one night a few days before Halloween where I make a Halloween themed meal.  The girls refer to it as our Halloween party.  This year it happened to fall on the same night as carving our pumpkin.  Here's what we had on the menu.  And remember, Halloween calories don't count.  :P

Pumpkin Carving '09

The tradition continues this year.  We (and I use that term loosely...someone has to get the photos ;)) carved our pumpkin last night.  It's always a fun event picking out our design and carving it.  Now on to the process.

Girls Night Out

On Friday night, Leah, the girls and myself went to the Miley Cyrus concert in Birmingham.  It was an awesome concert and we had a blast!!
The girls dressed and ready to go...

All I said was, "give me attitude" and that's what I got.  lol

When we arrived at the concert, we got to see Miley's older brother skateboarding in the tour bus parking lot.  His band opened up for Miley.


After buying some souvenirs and snacks, we found our seats and waited for the big event...



This is the look of pure excitement and joy when Miley was about to make her entrance on stage...

The grand entrance...breaking out of an iceburg, bubble or something of that sort...

We had great seats!
She did lots of new songs...

This one was especially cool.  It had an ocean theme going on and at one point, she fell backwards onto a trampoline out of sight, then appeared on the screen cube where it looked as if she was singing underwater.  We really liked this one!

Miley let us have a sneak peak at her movie that is coming out next spring during one of her songs...


The song and performance that we all loved the most had to be this one though...

Riding on a motorcycle over the audience while singing...how cool is that!?!

Miley definitely put on an awesome concert and to see the expressions on Cassi and Sophie's faces...totally worth it.  :)

Early Morning Boy Talk

On the way to school as heard by the girls this morning...

Sophie - I'm going to marry either Willy Wonka or Rich.

Cassi - I thought you were over Rich?

Sophie - I'm soooo NOT over Rich.  I'm back on to Rich now!

On my to-do list.

Updating the blog is one of those items on the mile long list this week.  I haven't been shooting too many photos lately.  My camera isn't working as intended or maybe it's the photographer.  Either way, I don't feel inspired to blog when I don't have photos to post.  What can I say, I'm a visual type person.  I do have a couple to share though.

We've been busy around here as usual with such things as school projects...

The only rules were it had to have 8 legs.  :)

Birthday Pup

Bella turned 1 year old (or 7 dog years, however you look at it) on Monday.  She also recently got a new doggy doo...

Cassi referred to her as "a 1 inch dog" because she looks so little without all that fur.  She hardly even looks like a cocker spaniel without the trademark curly hair on the ears.  Don't be mistaken though, she's still got her spunk.

Much like another girl I know...

So Proud

Our little Tiger Cub tested for her yellow belt on Friday evening.

She was the first name they called out.


She knocked her high block out along with a few other moves she had to know.


Then she had to recite the Tiger Cub promise to the judges.


And then they flexed and said, "we're done".  :)

We are so proud of her!!  And the best part, she is totally proud of herself!  She kept saying, "I did awesome"!   :)
