Beach Bums

Long time no blog!  We've been super busy lately with summertime activities, but the most notable is our trip to the beach, so I'll start there.

The girls and I just returned from Destin yesterday. (poor Daddy had to stay home and work, but insisted we go and have fun...and so we did)  Thanks to Leah for inviting us down to stay with her at the Majestic Sun.  We had a fabulous time!!!

I took a break from being photographer for the most part, so I don't have that many photos from our trip compared to what I would normally shoot.  Luckily, Leah shot quite a few and shared with me.  I just need to transfer them from my laptop. 

Here's a few that I managed to get...

First time they drove by themselves.  All was going well until those parked carts ran right out in front of Sophie.  :)

Space Day

Monday - June 1 Recap:
We had a fun morning at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.  The girls had been fascinated with the huge rocket out front every time we drove by it while in Huntsville.  We promised to take them sometime...and so we did.

They rode that rocket ride about 10 times.  No kidding.

However, I think the highlight of the trip was the Mars Climbing Wall.  Josh even got in on the action.
Then we saw this Vader guy.  According to Cassi, he was also an astronaut.  He just doesn't wear white.

...two high school sweethearts married.    Aww...

Happy Anniversary Sweetheart! I Love You!  :)

Okay, enough of that mushy stuff.  Back to our weekend o' fun.

Papaw took us fishing on Saturday afternoon.  I wore this hat so I'd look professional as my dad baited my hook...

We caught some real whoppers...

Cassi won the fishing tourney with a 6 ounce beauty.

On Sunday, we had a splashin' good time on the slip-n-slide at Nana's house...

It was all about grabbing the flag and being the winner for these two...

Look at the sheer determination on those 4 year old faces.  lol.

Hot Air Balloon Race

The girls and I got up super early on Saturday so we could go watch the hot air balloon race.  It was definitely worth the effort!

They were quite a sight to see, especially the gigantic, pink bunny which was a favorite of the girls.

School's Out for Summer...

I hope that song gets in your head and out of mine!  Anyway, this school year is officially over. 

Cassi's class celebrated summer birthdays on Tuesday...

She went for half a day so she could walk around in her birthday crown.  :)  I took some cupcakes at lunch for her and her classmates.

It was a bittersweet time when we said goodbye to Cassi's classmates and her teacher...the same ones she's had since kindergarten since her school does the loop thing.  Second grade will be something new to us all.

For now though, it's time to enjoy our summer!  We have a long list of fun activities that we're going to do.  I'll try to post more about those later incase anyone else needs ideas on how to keep the kiddos busy.  Until then...

Swimsuits & Sayings

Cassi had her last first grade field trip on Tuesday.  It was an end of the year celebration which consisted of Chuck E. Cheese and going to the park.  The fountain was a big hit with all the kids.  Sophie and I went along too since Cassi requested that we please, please, please go. 

Sayings:
Yesterday, we were playing outside at 5:00 and the college chimes were sounding.  Cassi asked me where that sound was coming from, which is odd because we've heard them hundreds of times.  I told her and she responded with "oh, I thought they were coming from heaven".  They do sound heavenly.  :)

This morning, we rushed around getting ready for school.  I was finishing up the last minute touches on teacher gifts (since today may possibly be Cassi's last day of school), getting us all three ready, breakfast, a snack packed, etc., etc.  Anyway, we get to school and walk in only to find that Cassi had a substitute for the day.  Cassi lets out a loud, groaning "Ohhhh Greaaaat".  Awkward!

Sophie says so much on a daily basis that it's hard to remember everything, but this morning she put on a dress and said, "I don't look good in this dress.  I look AWESOME!"  She was right.  :)

Anyone need a cute anklebiter?

Oh only kidding...somewhat.

She's much better than she was, but still isn't at the point where she doesn't at least try to sneak a nibble in here and there.  Maybe I don't get her out enough...she barks at bugs, balloons and moonwalks.  Even when the said items are removed.  I honestly thought she'd pass out from barking at the moonwalk.  She's a spastic little dog.  It doesn't seem to bother Sophie that much...

And having Bella has definitely helped Cassi overcome her incredible fear of dogs...(one of the key factors for us getting a dog)

The other day I looked outside and she was holding the neighbor's Yorkie.  That would have never happened before Bella.

Yesterday, I was spraying off my muddy shoes while squatting down.  The crazy, wet dog jumped on my back with all fours and sit there!!  Sorry, no photo of that, but I'm sure you can visualize it.  This morning, she was sitting on the grill!  I'm convinced she's part goat, between the climbing and eating things...

But at least she's cute, right?

Oh yeah!

That's the back cover of Cassi's finished Kindergarten album.  Just waiting on Shutterfly now.  I can't wait to see how it turns out in print.  There was a lot of scanning incorporated into this one.  The hardest part was trying to decide what to include in the book.  Do you know how much artwork, worksheets, and various other projects and papers comes home in a kid's backpack?  I would have loved to include it all.  I managed to squeeze a school year into 20 pages though.

In other news:
My awesome kids (pretty sure my terrific hubbie had something to do with it too) gave me an early Mother's Day gift.  (yes, we are notorious for not waiting until the actual holiday, that's just the way we roll)  Josh had the girls deliver this paper and a cd to me.  So sweet and cute!

I have been wanting these actions forever!  Thanks sweetheart!  :)
